Professor Kohei Cho invited to give lecture at international workshop in Germany

Professor Kohei Cho (Director, School of Information Science and Technology), the head of this project, was invited to give a lecture at the international workshop of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) held from June 6 to 9 at University Hannover in Germany.

He spoke about the results of the evaluation of Miyagi Prefecture’s environmental restoration after the Great East Japan Earthquake using satellite data and field surveys, and also introduced the research project “Contributing to a Safe and Secure Society by Building a Glocal Monitoring System for Disaster and Environmental Change Monitoring.”

Professor Cho said, “Many people are very interested in our efforts to combine satellite data and information from social media to gather disaster information. My feeling was that we are quite ready to start international initiatives.”

Research meeting with teacher at King Mongkut’s University of Technology, Ladkrabang

On July 1, we invited Mr. Sutheera Puntheeranurak from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology, Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand, to Takanawa Campus for a research meeting.

Four faculty members from Tokai University, including Professor Osamu Uchida (Department of Information Media Technology, School of Information and Telecommunication Engineering) and Lecturer Keisuke Utsu (Department of Communication and Network Engineering, School of Information and Telecommunication Engineering), as well as three fourth-year undergraduate students from the Utsu Laboratory, participated in the event and engaged in lively discussions.
